Japanese Tea Ceremony

All over the world, people enjoy teatime. In Japan, however, taking tea with guests can mean considerably more than a relaxing break to the day. The traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony is a very grand and elaborate affair.

The Japanese tea ceremony is more like a sacred ritual than a friendly gathering. Each aspect of the ceremony is symbolic and adds great charm and meaning to this unique event.

The ceremony is conducted in a room called chashitsu, located in the teahouse. Fresh water symbolizing purity is held in a stone jar called the mizusashi, and may only be touched by the host. Matcha (tea) is kept in chaire--a small ceramic container covered in shifuku (fine silk pouch) and set in front of the mizusashi. Special stands called tana are used to display the tea bowls, and differ depending on the occasion.

The host enters with the chawan (tea bowl) containing a chasen (tea whisk), a chakin (a bleached white linen tea cloth) and the chashaku (tea scoop). Next to these items is a water jar, symbolic of the sun (yang) and a bowl, symbolizing the moon (yin). The host brings the kensui (waste water bowl), the hishaku (bamboo water ladle) and futaoki (a green bamboo rest for the kettle lid), and purifies the tea container and scoop using a fukusa (fine silk cloth).

Hot water is ladled into the tea bowl. The whisk is rinsed and the tea bowl is emptied and wiped with the chakin. For each guest, three scoops of tea are placed into the tea bowl. The whisk is used to create a thin paste using a sufficient quantity of hot water. Additional water is then added, while the paste is whisked into a thick liquid.

The tea bowl is passed to the main guest. He or she drinks some of the tea, wipes the rim of the bowl, and passes the bowl to the next guest. Each guest follows this same procedure until all have tasted the tea. The bowl is then returned to the host, who rinses it and cleans the tea scoop and the container.

A fire is then built for usa cha (thin tea), which rinses the palate, symbolizing the departure of the guests from the spiritual world of tea and back into the physical world. Smoking articles are offered as a gesture of relaxation, but smoking does not typically take place in a tearoom.

Finally, zabuton (cushions) and teaburi (hand warmers) are offered for the comfort of the guests, and higashi (dry sweets) are served. Before leaving the teahouse, guests will express their appreciation for the tea and their admiration for host's attention to the fine art of serving tea.

If you are ever given the chance to attend a tradition Japanese tea ceremony, be sure to attend. There is no other experience quite like it.

The Negatives Associated with Companies that Offer Lifetime Hosting Plans

Yes, I pay a set amount each and every month for my hosting and some of the additional services cost extra but these companies that offer Lifetime Hosting sound like a great money saver. What I don't understand is where is their incentive to perform each and every month. What if I pay this $100 plus fee and they just shut their company down and I can never find them again.

What about the fact that all they have is a sales page? Nothing deeper than that sales page, no support page, no FAQ page, nothing, nada, zip. With my present host, one of the things that I like, is whenever I call them there is somebody there to answer my call. Their support can be the ticket system, live chat, or phone support which is the one I prefer when I want an answer right then and there.

Just recently, I bought a software product via the WWW using my credit card. The software never came so I disputed the charge. After a month my credit card company sent me an email saying that they found in favor of the merchant because the sale was an intangible product and that I knew the risk before purchasing. So now I am out my $43 what happens when the hosting company takes off with my $100 plus, if I find them will I be able to get my money back?

I try to never buy a product where there is only a sales pages. Sites that don't have an email address or a phone number very rarely will get my business. I especially hate it when you do a Whois lookup and the registrar comes up as private or a bogus name and info.

I also see that these companies offering lifetime hosting usually offer great disk space and I've even seen some of unlimited bandwidth but 2 problems I see here is what if you need more space then what they give you and how many sites out there in the world are using any descent amount of bandwidth. I have 20 different sites and even though it is unfortunate but only 1 of them will ever exceed the use of more than 1Gig of bandwidth. What do I need unlimited bandwidht for?

Teaching in Korea Big City or Small City???

When you ask most people who are from the western hemisphere what they know about Korea, the answer is most likely, Not too much; ironically enough, this is pretty much the same response you will get when asking a teacher who is about to go to Korea for a year. Seoul, Busan and possibly Daegu are the cities most recognized by people who are looking for the perfect school, in the perfect location; Seoul, because it is the capital; because it has the most variety; and simply because teachers have heard the name more than once. Busan is where the beach people know that. Why not spend a year of your life teaching in a school that has the glorious vista of a beach in a city that lies neatly on the southern tip of the country? What people should be asking themselves is, Why not?. Well, the answer is simple because you would be missing out on what Korea really has to offer: culture.

Large metropolitan areas like Busan and Seoul are great cities, they really are, but they are not exactly what you would call the ideal place to learn about Korean life. They are the result of outside influences, and have therefore been westernized to what extent is hard to say, but westernized all the same. Seoul offers what any international city should: a wide variety of ethnic restaurants, from Italian to Indian, a bustling nightlife, great shopping, etcetera, etcetera. Busan on the other hand, is a port city, so there are a lot of different people from different countries coming and going. In regard to the beach, on any given summer day, there is around 10,000 people covering it with umbrellas, making it difficult to get yourself to the water but hey, its still a beach, right?

But what about the smaller cities that fill in the country side? Places like Kumi, Cheonan, Keumsan, Masan, Gwangju, or Gangneug to name a few is it because these names are too difficult to pronounce? Or is it because they are simply unknown to most people? I think that it is probably a combination of both, which is understandable. What people often forget about is the reason why they are taking off for a year of their lives. Sure, a lot of people go to Korea to make money, or get experience in the teaching field, but what about the experience of a lifetime, being immersed in a culture other than your own? How much do you really know about Korea and Koreans, their history, their values, the reason they do things that you think are weird or rude?

Life in one of Koreas smaller cities can be much more fulfilling, as I have learned. People are friendlier, the air is cleaner and the quality of life is simply better. To add to this, you find yourself in a setting that doesnt cater to you, rather one that you have to adjust to and isnt that the whole point? Why would you travel to the other side of the world only to seek the pleasures of home? Why not embrace another culture to the fullest extent? I think if you do, you will find yourself returning home with a lot more than what you left with.

The RoHS Debate - Do We Need RoHS in the US?

RoHS is often referred to as the "lead-free" directive. The RoHS directive took effect on July 1, 2006.

The RoHS WEEE directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. RoHS COMPLIANT also referred to as RoHS 5 or RoHS 20.

In other words - any manufacturer that plans to sell electronic goods to the European Union must make sure their products comply with the RoHS directive. This has causes an untold burden on electronic manufacturers all over the world. Many consulting companies have sprung up to help factories comply.

Recent news indicates that RoHS is not just inconvenient, but a time-consuming, expensive and ill-conceived environmental law. I think the thought behind it is valid, the world could use less pollutant. But as in most government regulations perhaps RoHS is a little overboard. It reminds one of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.

Do we need something like RoHS in the US? The question has been posed to the manufacturing community on more than one occasion. The benefits of RoHS are obvious; it ensures that electronic parts imported into the EU are free from hazardous chemicals and other materials. This is good. But it comes at a great expense. Manufacturers now need to ensure that their raw materials adheres and have to certify that they do.

With no US RoHS legislation proposed, California has enacted its own RoHS rule to take effect in 2007. The California RoHS is not as comprehensive as the EU rule. It also only applies to a certain select group of products sold through California retailers such as laptops, CRTs and TVs. It should also be noted that China is implementing its own RoHS laws in 2007.

People pushing for such a US law say that it is in the best interest of the US electronics industry.

Enacting national RoHS and WEEE rules is an environmentally responsible thing to do. Computers, TVs, and cell phones contain lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium. They also have a shorter life span than ever before. In 1997, the average life span of a computer was 4-6 years; in 2005, it was less than 2 years. Ultimately these products wind up in landfills where the hazardous substances in them can threaten the environment. National RoHS and WEEE laws will provide incentives for removing these substances from new products, and for properly disposing of existing products. Paul Tallentire President, Newark InOne.

The RoHS enforcement authority (rohs.gov.uk) has already begun enforcement of the regulations since the coming into force and has already been working closely with trade associations, quality systems organisations and individual companies providing advice and support on the interpretation of the regulations.

Staying Safe In Car Technology to Keep You Safe

We hear a lot about safety nowadays and rightly so. Hardly a day goes by without, us members of the general public being exposed to one photographic horror story after another about carnage on our roads. Now this article is not meant to act as a criticism for any of these campaigns, I think actually they serve an immensely useful purpose but it would appear possibly that we perhaps spend an inordinate time on external factors and ignore in car factors when it comes to safety.

If we take a look at safety kit for cars than there are possibly several different types off the safety kit and technology that are worth looking at.

Firstly, traction and stability control. Well folks it goes without saying best way to survive an accident is to try and avoid having it in the first place. Sounds common sense? Of course it does in this case, we are thinking in terms of all traction and stability control. Traction control is there in cars to assist us when things go all pear-shaped on slippery surfaces about stability control, also known as ESP actually goes further. It is almost a case off the car taking complete control. It does this by comparing and analyzing the path and the direction that the car is moving in whilst under control off the driver and if there is a major discrepancy between the two, what do you know the car takes over and slows the car by breaking one or more wheels, reducing engine power or any combination of the two.

The second piece of technology that is worth looking at off breaking aids. By this I mean anti-lock breaks which are now standard on new cars. The ease use a system which in turn uses a series of sensors to prevent the cars wheels locking out or up or under breaking leading to a skid. Basically they enable a driver to continue steering and remain in control of the car while breaking hard in an incident and not losing control of the car.

Next we look at adaptive cruise control. The best cruise control management systems in cars dont just help you maintain a constant speed without any pressure from you on the accelerator and they can also analyze the distances between you and the car in front meaning that if you come too close to the caught in front the system will immediately slow the speed of your call to compensate and maintain the correct distance between you and the car in front. Get this; there are some systems that even talk to the driver. Wow thats all we need is a car that talks back.

The thing that you have to remember with all of these technological systems is that they calmed completely prevent accidents but what they can do is reduce the severity of those accidents.

You will find that while a human remains in control or has a controlling influence on the control of a car quite honestly there is always the possibility of something random happening no matter how experienced or how good the driver is.

All you can try and do is try and minimize the effects and that is what some of these systems do.

Customize Home Plans for Personalized Living

Many people have a good idea of what they are looking for in home plans, but until they actually see the elevation drawings, it is just an idea. One of the advantages of choosing home plans already completed is there is a good chance there are a set of plans that resemble what they are looking for.

There are usually subtle differences between what they thought they wanted and what they decide on once they see the designs put together by a professional architect. Odds are there will be some things in the home plans that the potential buyer did not think about, such as a patio door leading to a deck from the master bedroom, or space on the back porch for a hot tub.

Several people may be able to sketch out their thoughts on a napkin or notebook paper and visit a builder who will have their architect draw plans for them. This can be expensive, not to mention time consuming while they wait for completed home plans. Visiting a company such as http://www.thehousedesigners.com can lead them to plans that will be close to their napkin drawing and customizable to get even closer.

These types of plans will also meet the construction code requirements in every state as the architects responsible for the plans have extensive experience in home plans and insuring they meet all construction standards, regardless of the state in which the home will be built. Simply letting them know where you plan to build, and the plans are checked and checked again to ensure compliance with any state and local codes.

The size of your lot and how the home plans will fit on your lot is another consideration that professional designers and architects can help you with. Perhaps a simple reduction in your home plan is all that is needed to fit the house on the lot, or maybe a new design is needed, but these are things for which you will want professional help.

Internet Marketing And List Building: Forget Programs, Build Your List

Internet marketing newbies constantly have opportunities flung in their faces. There are a few that might be good, with good products behind them, but probably only for a while. Other programs are just so-so and the owners make a bulk of the income. Then, there are the Internet marketing scams, which you should avoid--totally.

Let's continue on the premise that you've found a solid program and you're really eager to make it work for you. You may even be making some money from it. But let's think about this: If you concentrate on it alone, and you're building this huge downline, what about emailing them? You can't do it for any reason, other than about company business or you'll be kicked out of the program. Should you be doing this?

Obviously, you can. Yet, what happens when you've spent all your time and energy and maybe money on getting this program really going great. That would be awesome, and you'd have a real sense of achievement, an income even. Great. But...

Did you know that most Internet marketing and other Internet businesses fail within the first year? That doesn't necessarily mean that your program will, but I can almost guarantee that when there are so many people in it that it becomes unpopular because there's just no money to be made anymore, it will fail. Then what? Start all over and do it again?

Here's the thing. Most Internet marketing newbies don't understand that programs aren't the answer. Even some people with time online don't get it. There is only one thing that will keep your business running, and that's a list of customers behind you, that know you, that trust you, that like your personality, and that buy. You'll always have a certain percentage of people on your list that buy what you recommend because they trust you and know it's a good product.

How about this scenario? You have worked really hard at list building all the while you were building your MLM business. But guess what? The MLM dies off and you don't care! You have a list of 10,000 people who are willing to look at anything you send to them, and a certain percentage of them will always buy. You can sell them a product that you develop or become an affiliate for someone else and sell their products and still have an income. Can you see how powerful having a list of your own is now?

My best advice to you, especially if you're an Internet marketing newbie, is to forget the hype. Get away from it and settle yourself down to building a list. List building is the only thing that will keep your business going. If you aren't doing it now, start today! See my resource box for my step-by-step program. It's a very quick way to get started.

Yet, whatever you do, whether you follow me or someone else, start list building today. If you aren't going to do that, don't buy into one more program, get another ebook, or buy more productivity software. If you aren't list building, you may as well just close the doors forget it. Ignoring list building is not an option.

A Cruise Vacation That Can Include Airline Reservations

An air-sea cruise is when your cruise vacation has been booked with airline reservations to get you to the ships port and back home again. The cruise line buys its tickets in bulk from the airlines. They find out where you are coming from for your cruise travel and book you passage from a nearby airport to one close to the cruise ship's home port. Each cruise line has its own policy on how they deal with the sale of airline tickets, so here are some cruise tips in that area.

What is the cost of the tickets if I book them with my cruise?

The amount will be quoted when you book and will be shown on your bill.

If I need to cancel, are the refund policies different for the plane tickets than for the cruise?

No, as long as you cancel before the penalty phase begins.

Is there a service fee charged to have the Cruise Line issue my Airline reservations?

Only if you use their air deviations plan. The fee is around $50.00 each.

Do I have any choice in which Airline is used?

Yes, if you use there air deviation plan.

Can I get credit for my frequent flyer mileage if the cruise lines books my airline reservations?

No. You can use your frequent flyers if you book on your own.

Can I fly nonstop or have any control over the route that is taken, or do I just get what ever they find?

Here again, use the air deviation plan.

How do I get from the Airport to the ships pier?

If you have booked an air/sea cruise vacation the cruise lines will supply you with a voucher for a shuttle bus. If you booked your own airline reservations it will be up to you to get to the port.

Is there a shuttle service available from the airport where youll be arriving? Is there a charge for this service or is it included? Is the service included if you dont book your flight through the Cruise Line?

If you book your flights through the cruise lines, there will be a shuttle and you

use your transfer.

How and when do I meet up with Cruise Line personnel?

They will be standing in the baggage claim area and will hold a sign with the name of the ship. They will direct you to the shuttle.

How is my luggage handled, do I have to pick it up at the airport or is it automatically sent to the ship?

You will have to pick it up at the airport and then the shuttle will take it to the ship with you.

What accommodations, if any, are made if the Airline they use causes me to miss the ship?

If you have booked with the cruise lines they will accommodate you by getting a hotel room for the night and a flight to the next port.

There are many advantages to booking an air-sea package for your cruise travel. The cruise line takes care of the airline reservation. Since cruise lines buy in bulk and usually provide a discount package rate, the ticket price is generally lower than what can be found in the general market. The transfer of luggage is easier, and a free shuttle will take you from the airport to the docks for your cruise vacation.

The cruise line will have your flight information and will be able to track your flight in case of a delay. Others on the cruise might be on the same flight and they might just hold the ship waiting for you to board. The biggest advantage is that if anything goes wrong to delay you, the cruise line will generally become more involved in getting you to the ship.

There, of course, are disadvantages as well to booking an air-sea package. You might be able to find a better deal on your own, or you may have to fly an airline you dont like. You will not get credit for frequent flyer miles by going through the cruise line, and you might not be able to fly non-stop. Finally, you might end up flying a longer route than youd pick for yourself.

You could book your own airline tickets, but only do so if you can get a better deal. The strongest consideration should be how confident you are in being able to make it to the ship for your cruise vacation on your own. If you are already flying in a few days early, know youll be there on time and you can save over the air-sea on plane tickets and shuttle costs, then you might just consider going it alone. But, remember you are going it alone. In many cruise reviews it is recommended that you book your airline reservation with the cruise line.

The cruise lines will be more likely to make accommodations and work with the airline if their booking didnt get you to the ship on time. They will be better able to track your late flight and might even delay the ship if they know youll only be slightly late. There have been many cruise vacations that have delayed the departure from port especially if there is a large group of cruise travelers on a late plane.

Depending on the circumstances, they might even rebate some of your cruise or give you a discount toward your next cruise vacation with them. However, the airlines are independent contractors. Most cruise conditions of carriage state that since the airlines are independent contractors the cruise line makes no warranty and assumes no responsibility for any failure or delay in their contractors services. This is another reason to purchase a strong trip insurance package.

When you book your own airline tickets for your cruise vacation, if the route you picked to make it to the ship fails, you are on your own. Dont risk missing your cruise travel over a few frequent flyer miles. No matter how you get to your cruise vacation, try to avoid this situation by booking a flight that leaves you plenty of time to get you to and from the pier to the airport. It is recommended that your go on the internet and read the many cruise reviews on this subject.

The Top Ten Spyware And Adware Threats That Exists To Harm Your Computer

If you have a computer, then chances are you have either spyware or adware lurking on it somewhere. Estimates suggest that 90% of computers are infected with malicious software (malware) of some type. They take over your computer, infest it with pop-ups and other junk, or even worse, steal your private information. Although there are countless types of spyware and adware, these are the ones generally considered the biggest threats to your computer.

Gator - This adware is designed to track the sites you surf and so get a picture of your online interests. Once it has enough data, it starts to bombard you with everything from banner ads to pop-ups on similar subjects, hoping to grab your interest and attention. Generally your computer gets infected with Gator when you share files through Kazaa or other means, or when you download freeware.

n-Case - Another type of adware, which subjects you to an endless flood of pop-up ads. Downloading freeware from online sites is the way your computer usually gets infected with this malware.

PurtyScan - This is particularly sneaky adware. First it displays a pop-up ad on your computer offering to detect any pornographic content on your computer, with an offer to remove it. If you click on the ad, however, you end up a website which then infiltrates your computer with even more spyware and adware.

Transponder - Similar to Gator, in that it 'watches' your online behavior, then bombards you with ads that this malware decides are relevant.

CoolWebSearch - This malware is certainly not cool, but malicious. The first step is that it hijacks your Internet settings and web page, and then redirects you to another web page of its own. As you can imagine, that website is full of more adware and spyware, waiting to get into your computer.

Internet Optimizer - You could almost call this piece of malware a hacker. It takes control of your home page, and also any other web pages you visit. The final step is to pass you on to its own web page, so that it can download other malware onto your computer.

Perfect KeyLogger - This malware is a tool for hackers. It can record your keystrokes, which makes it simple to find out private information such as credit card numbers, passwords and other private details. These are then passed on to the hacker.

ISTbar/Aupdate - Although it pretends to be a toolbar, this is still malware. It's a form of spyware, and it operates by continually displaying pornographic images and pop-up ads on your computer, which is both embarrassing and annoying. It also takes control of your Internet settings and web page.

TIBS Dialer - If you access the Internet via a dial-up connection, this malware will hijack your phone modem and then transfer you to various websites full of pornography.

Keen Value - This malware starts out by tracking your online behavior, analyzing every website you visit. It also collects your personal information if you fill out any forms online, and then bombards with endless advertisements, many of which link through to websites full of dangerous malware.

This is why protection is always important even if you surf the next just once a week.

Information Overload - 6 Primary Causes

All knowledge workers of today can attest to the overwhelming amount of information they need to deal with on a daily basis. This constant state of information overload is caused by several conspiring factors:

#1 More Information Than We Can Process

Search the web for almost any topic and you will get millions of web pages as a result. To this you can add hundreds of ebooks on the topic and most likely a dozen traditionally published books available on Amazon.com. There is no way you can possibly process all this information in your lifetime. And this is just for one topic you're working on this week.

How do you know which of all this information is remotely important, or even factually correct? Google tries to rank their search results by relevance according to their own secret algorithms. Traditional book publishers filter out most book proposals and only publish a very small fraction of the books they are offered. Presumably only the best books get published with this process. But according to what criteria?

Just to discover who is an authority on the topic that your are trying to research, adds another dimension to your research. Which in turn results in more information that you need to process.

#2 Bombardment of Unsolicited Information

How many unsolicited emails do you receive each day? And that's after your SPAM filter has done its best to spare you from the majority of the onslaught. But do you really trust your SPAM filter? Don't you occasionally check the SPAM folder to see if something important didn't slip through?

How many email lists or ezines have you subscribed to that were once relevant to your work, but are now just sending your irrelevant commercial offers? But since they once contained valuable information you stay on the subscription list because there may be something useful yet to come.

When you search or browse the web you are constantly bombarded with ads that are tailored to appear to be relevant to what you are looking for. Since there might be something useful in these offers, you click on the ads. Leading to even more unsolicited information that you need to evaluate and process.

All this adds up to increasing amounts of unsolicited information that you need to deal with, just to get to the information that you have requested and really need.

#3 Speed of New Information Accelerates

Back when the majority of your information was delivered by the postman and the newspaper boy once a day, keeping up with the information flow was not a big problem. Today, the analogy of drinking from a fire hose pales in comparison to the flood of information rushing at you from all directions.

Not only has the speed of delivery increased over time, but it continues to accelerate, creating an exponential effect.

#4 Value of Information Plummets

The information age was based on the principle that information was scarce and valuable. In the Attention Age with a glut of information available, the perceived value quickly approaches zero. This applies indiscriminately to all information since we have no effective mechanisms to evaluate what is truly important, what is simply redundant and what is plain junk.

All marketers of information products should be gravely concerned about this trend. How can you sell products at a profit in the future when the perceived value of all information is $0?

Furthermore, it will probably not take long before people realize that some information is worth less than $0. Given that our attention is the most scarce and valuable resource in the Attention Age, processing and evaluating information comes at a severe cost. This cost should be deducted from the previously perceived value of the information, to arrive at its true value.

#5 Amount of Contradiction Increase

With a thousand voices screaming at you, who do you trust? The one with the loudest voice? The one with the largest group of supporters? How do you evaluate contradictory information in a subject that you are just beginning to research?

In previous ages the number of information sources was significantly smaller, even orders of magnitudes smaller. Back then, these information sources assumed the role of an authority since they practically had a monopoly on information distribution. Think about your old hometown newspaper. What they printed was universally accepted as the truth.

#6 Our Information Needs Increase

The one with the most money wins has been replaced by the one with the most information wins. If you know something about the market that your competitor doesn't, then you have an advantage. This information arms race leads to an ever increasing appetite for more information. Which of course feeds into the previous bullets in a vicious circle.

These bullets were inspired by Rich Schefren's recent report: The Attention Age Doctrine. A following article will deal with strategies for surviving information overload.

Nick Dalton is a compulsive serial entrepreneur. He has recently turned his attention to the problem of attention, and the lack thereof. Read more related articles and blog posts at http://www.AttentionRich.com/Chandrakasan Blog80918

How Much Effort Do You Actually Think You Need To Put In?

Before the Internet came along, if you wanted to set up your own business it took a lot of money and an unbelievable amount of hard work. You would have to give up nearly everything and live hand-to-mouth for months and work every single waking hour. You would never get a day off and eventually if luck was on your side, you would end up with a thriving business which generated a nice healthy income for you and your family. You would still have to work most days (if not all) and when your normal working day was complete, there would always be paperwork to do in the evening.

If you were fortunate enough to be able to go on holiday you would still have to 'check in with the office' - however good your staff were, you couldn't possibly leave them on their own for more than a day or two without making sure everything was ok. Of course, you could close the business down while you were away but this would mean that you would be losing money everyday that you were lying by the pool (which might take the edge off the enjoyment slightly).

(I could go on but I won't because the struggles involved in building an offline business aren't the point of this article.....)

So then the Internet arrived. Suddenly you could set up your own business for next to nothing. All you needed to do was throw up a few web pages and a six figure income would flow from your computer directly to your bank account. It was quick, easy and anyone could do it with little training and little effort. Right?

Er, no actually - in fact, absolutely and completely WRONG!

I have said it countless times before, if you want to build a successful online business, it takes time and a lot of effort. You can do it on a budget but you still need to work very hard and really put the hours in. I won't bore you with the details of how many hours a week I have worked in the past but believe me, it is more than I knew existed when I had a job!

Unfortunately these facts seem to have been missed by a large percentage of the online population. Over the past few months I have received more and more emails from people who clearly don't want to do any work whatsoever but seem to expect money to just pump out of their computer as soon as they turn it on each morning. Not only that but they have this expectation that I and others owe it to them to help/guide/support them for free! Some lazy so and so's have actually suggested that I do all the work in building their website business and then take a cut of future profits!! Why on earth would I want to do that? Why don't I just build the business on my own and cut them out of the deal?

I received an email from someone this week complaining that after buying one of my wholesale guides, he had been unable to find what he was looking for at a decent wholesale price. The product he was trying to buy was incredibly competitive and has a very small profit margin anyway so the chances are that he was simply expecting to be able to buy it for an unrealistic price. Either that or he had only looked at wholesalers on the Internet because he couldn't be bothered to move from his chair and actually visit the huge number of excellent suppliers who don't advertise online (I am beginning to suspect that this is primarily because they don't want to deal with characters like this!). Anyway, you know the funny part of this story? The guy bought my wholesale guide in 2004 - it had taken him two and a half years to write to me to complain! Does this sound like the kind of 'go-getter' who is going to put the required effort in and succeed in any kind of business?

No one is going to do the work for you and you really only have yourself to blame if your business is not working out the way you want it to. If something is wrong, change it. If something isn't working, try doing it a different way. If you don't enjoy what you are doing, find something else that you do enjoy.

Internet marketing isn't for everyone and it isn't a quick and easy route to easy money. I haven't had a proper day off work for over five years (even when I am on holiday I usually spend an hour or so a day dealing with emails). Yes the money is good but if it is only the money that attracts you, believe me, you will soon get bored.

Internet marketing is a lifestyle - it can be a very good lifestyle but like any business, you need to be passionate about what you do if you really want to make a success of it.

If you don't fall into this category then you could well find that your Internet business dream becomes just another JOB.....

Bad Credit Commercial Mortgages To Serve Your Commercial Needs

Commercial mortgages are a kind of loans that can be availed for commercial purposes. You can buy commercial property; say a new building for your office or a new establishment for your business, with the help of commercial mortgages.

Commercial properties come at high prices, much higher than that of personal property. You got to have a sound bank balance to buy a commercial estate. People often go for commercial mortgages to arrange funds for buying commercial property. But those who have bad credit scores often find it difficult to look for lenders.

Bad credit problems are increasing day by day. With more and more people falling into bad credit, lenders have come up with options especially for bad credit people. These days, a number of lenders offer to look after your commercial needs.

Bad credit commercial mortgages make you available funds for purchasing a commercial property. These mortgages are a kind of secured loans, that is, the property that you buy with a bad credit commercial mortgage is automatically pledged to the lender as a security. Thus, if you do not keep up the repayments, the lender may possess your commercial edifice to make up for his loss.

Bad credit commercial mortgages have, to some extent, higher interest rates. Since lenders give due consideration to your credit score, you might as well get shorter repayment duration. But if you survey the market well in advance, you can get bad credit commercial mortgages at reasonable interest rates, by comparing the different schemes on offer.

Funding Part-time Education

Being a part-time student has advantages and disadvantages. Sometimes it seems like every program is geared towards full-time students. How can you pay for your education and make both your budget and time work?

As a part-time student, you have some advantage over full-time students. You can work more hours during the school year to earn more money. However, you might be a part-time student so that you can take care of your children, or because you volunteer someplace. These are the times when it can be harder to fund part-time education.

Full-time students get a discount on tuition: generally, each of their courses is less expensive than each of yours. This means that you will be spending more money to go to school. Full-time students also have the advantage that they get more funding from scholarships, bursaries, and other sources. Its disappointing to see full-time status as a requirement on so many applications.

You can apply for loans designed specifically for part-time students. You want to find a loan that best matches your profile. If you are working, you might be able to begin paying the loan back right away. If you are not working, then you will want a loan that you dont have to pay back for at least a few years, and ideally until you have done your school. This isnt a problem if you will one be in school two or three years (taking a one-year diploma or certificate, for example). However, if you are doing an undergraduate degree that takes four years typically, on a part-time basis this will likely take you six to eight years.

One way to finish your degree faster and still be a part-time student is to take classes during the entire year. Many full-time students only take classes for two semesters a year, or eight months. If you take half the classes for the full year, you will have done 75% of the courses a full-time student takes. This means that you will be done school sooner, and increases your chances of getting a loan that you dont have to repay until you graduate.

The key to being a part-time student is time management. If you have kids at home, you will need to block out certain hours a week to work on school. If you are working full-time and taking courses on the side, it might seem like the reading is the least important thing for you to do. Keeping on top of your schoolwork now will make it easier when crunch time rolls around and you are doing exams, essays, and reports.

If you are going to school part-time to increase your skills for your job, you might be able to get your employer to pay for all or part of your education. Even if your education is not directly related to your job, you might be able to get special scholarships because of your association with your workplace. Ask your employer and ask your school about what is available.

Your schools office of student awards and financial aid will be able to help you discover certain awards that are only awarded to part-time students. The Organization of Part-time University Students (or OPUS) can help you find work, find scholarships, and discover new ways to pay for your education. If your school is not affiliated with OPUS, you can check them out on the web, and go to your schools equivalent department.

Time management skills will also increase your ability to earn money. This will help you pay for your education faster. And the skills that you develop in time management (organization, work ethic, planning) will also help you in your money management.

Manage your money wisely. It can be difficult when you are a part-time student and all of your friends are not in school. They might be out at the bars or shopping all the time, but you have to be realistic about what you can afford. Choose cheaper options, like having your friends over instead of going out, to help make your lifestyle fit your means.

Going to school part-time can be a lot of hard work, but the end result is ultimately rewarding. Explore your options with your school, with your bank, and with your employer to work out the best deal for you.

Your Life Insurance May Be Worth More Than You Think

Many seniors own life insurance policies that they no longer need or want, or that they can no longer afford. Often, they allow their policies to lapse or cash them into the insurance company for the surrender value. What many seniors dont realize is that their unwanted life insurance may be worth much more if sold to an investor in a life settlement. A Life Settlement is the sale of a life insurance policy by the policyowner, before the policy matures. Such a sale, at a price discounted from the face amount of the policy, but in excess of the cash surrender value, provides the seller an immediate cash settlement.

Life Settlement History

Life Settlement industry evolved out of Viatical Settlements.

In the mid-80s AIDS became an epidemic, A number of AIDS patients were told that they only had a limited time to live. Many of these patients owned life insurance policies. They knew that when they died, their family would receive the death benefit but they needed money today to pay medical bills or enjoy the rest of their lives. In stepped Viatical Settlement companies. These companies purchased policies on terminal patients and sold them as retail investments to individual investors. The AIDS patients got money they needed today and the investors got the promise that when the patient died they would get the death benefit.

The Life Settlement Market

In the 90s the Life Settlement market was born as companies and investors turned towards buying unwanted life insurance policies from seniors. According to Sanford Bernstein, the industry grew from $0 in the mid 1990s to approximately $13 billion in 2005. Bernstein estimates the life settlement market will reach $160 billion over the next several years. The penetration rate is expected to exceed 20% as awareness and the size of the market is increased over the next 20 years.

Life Settlement Case Studies

Below are some real life case studies that illustrate ways that others have used life settlements to increase their net worth:

Case 1:

Settlement Frees up $966,000 in Cash for Annuity purchase

 This case involved an 82 year old female who owned several policies totaling $4.6 million. She no longer wanted to pay premiums for the insurance and was going to accept the cash surrender value of $236,548. Her intent was to use the policies cash value to help fund the cost of an assisted living facility.

 Her advisor recommended a life settlement for each policy, and she agreed. Ultimately she received a settlement of $966,000 more than 400% greater than the cash surrender value and used those funds to purchase an annuity. The annuity payments now help cover the costs of the assisted living facility.

Case 2:

Settlement Proceeds Stabilizes Trust

 This case involved an 81 year old female, owner of a $5 million life insurance policy with a surrender value of $196,866. Since the insured had lost interest in maintaining the policy and no longer wished to make gifts to the trust for premium payments, the cash surrender value was rapidly depleting as premiums were being deducted from the cash value. Working with her financial advisor they conducted a review to determine whether the policy should be surrendered or whether a Life Settlement would be more advantageous. The advisor provided an offer of $556,000 over three times the cash surrender value.

Case 3:

Settlement Allows Policyowner To Purchase Paid-Up Policy

 A 78 year old male decided to allow his $1,250,000 policy to lapse. He had significant medical expenses and could no longer justify the $39,536 annual premium. After reviewing the available options with his advisor they decided to pursue a Life Settlement. He was able to secure an offer of $490,000. The policyowner and advisor decided to use some of the proceeds to purchase a paid-up $500,000 policy and the remainder helped to ease the burden of the policyowners medical costs.

Case 4:

Policyowner Makes $797,000

A 74 year old in good health purchased a $10mm Life Insurance Policy. He paid-$536k for two years of premiums. After the policy is two years old, he sold the policy for $1,333,333 in the secondary market representing a $797,000 profit on his investment.

If you are 70 and over, and have an insurance policy that you were going to get rid of anyway, you owe it to yourself to explore whether a life settlement might be a better option.

Choosing Baby Bedding for Your Marvelous Baby

When you choose bedding for your baby the one which can guarantee optimum baby bedding safety and coziness to your baby is your only option and the best fabric for is 100 percent cotton.

Following are descriptions of the different types of bedding available for each type of baby furniture.

- Crib Bedding. For the first year of the baby's life, the crib is its ideal bed. Cribs are available many different types and they all need to be durable and strong. You can choose the standard crib or go for a more expensive crib such as a convertible / portable crib which is ideal for traveling. It is best to choose the crib from a reputable company and the one you decide on must have no protruding pieces that the baby could knock against and hurt itself. All screws and bolts etc need to be securly fastened and you should check these often.

- Bassinet Bedding. These are suitable for the baby for the first 3 or 4 months only. A perfect bassinet will have a soft mattress and a blanket. It should be made of a soft material with ideally the color blending with the baby's room colors, design and decor.

- Cradle bedding. Cradles have a gentle rocking motion which ensures that your baby sleeps soundly. Light colored cradles are preferred by parents because they not only look attractive but you can notice when they get wet.

- Baby blankets. Blankets should be of a soft material and of course must be non-toxic. Today there are many types of blankets to choose from that are soft, smooth and pleasant smelling with attractive and eye pleasing colors.

Bedding for the baby could differ depending on whether it is a boy or a girl, or alternatively it could be gender neutral as well. The color combination and cute looking cartoons are common to both the baby boys and baby girls.

For the girls, the baby bedding is often in shades of pink, light blue and purples, and a baby girl's bed is laid out fit for a princess. A baby boy's bed is sometimes sport oriented, themed around super sport heroes, wrestling personalities or football and baseball stars. The colors tend to be darker and bolder for boys, often blue but also reds and intermingled with dark blue or black.

There is no hard and fast rule for baby bedding. You will see a lot of neutral nursery bedding themes with cartoons such as Disney and Popeye characters or cute animations.

The baby in its first few years is too small to understand the difference about having gender specific cartoons and animals and they are attracted to anything which is coloful; if it is pleasing to your eyes and makes you smile, it will do the same for your baby. When they get a little older, little boys would feel a little awkward having his bed done in pinks and pastels!

When baby girls grow older, their bedroom could have blinds with the curtains hanging on rods above. This gives the bed somewhat a princess bed appearance - afterall, that baby girls of yours is a princess, isn't she!

Bedding is one interesting aspect where there are a lot of options for the parent - choosing the kinds and textures of sheets and the choices of colors and baby bedding patterns. It is up to you if you choose gender neutral baby bedding or something which would make your baby girl feel like a princess or your baby boy feel like a superhero!

Aspergers Syndrome Children at School

Between the age of 6-18 children spend a third of each day at school, so its important to ensure theyre in the best environment for their needs. This is particularly true for children with Aspergers Syndrome.

So what should parents/carers look for when choosing a school for their Aspergers Syndrome child, or consider in their monitoring of the school environment?

Children with Aspergers Syndrome cope best in schools with small class sizes. This option is less a reality these days, when Education systems worldwide are struggling to survive with less funding and increased consumer demand. However, there are many other procedures and practices you can monitor to make certain your child with Aspergers Syndrome is being educated in an optimal setting.

You should ensure your Asperger Syndrome childs school has an extensive, in-depth knowledge of Aspergers Syndrome; from the Principal to the Classroom teacher, Administration staff and Ancillary staff. This guarantees that whoever has contact with your Asperger Syndrome child in the course of their school day is aware of your son/daughters needs and understands that Aspergers Syndrome is a neurobiological disorder not a behavioural issue. So ask what specific Asperger Syndrome training the staff at your childs school has completed and check that this is updated regularly. This is particularly relevant for your son/daughters Classroom teacher. If no specific Asperger Syndrome training has been undertaken at your childs school, insist that this is rectified promptly.

Check the anti-bullying policy of your childs school. This must be a whole-school policy that has a proven and consistent grievance address policy, with successful follow-up procedures. The policy should tackle the needs of victims and actions of perpetrators alike. Zero tolerance for bullying.

Your childs classroom should be aesthetically AS friendly, as well as having the curriculum structured and delivered in a manner that meets the needs of your child with Aspergers Syndrome. This will include using visual aids and maintaining a low sensory volume in the classroom minimising noise, light, smell and extremes in temperature. The Classroom teacher should be mindful of the fact that all social interaction will have a cumulative effect on your AS child this will affect the successful outcome of group activities, seating arrangements and buddy systems.

Your childs school should have a strong Social Skills program in place, that your son/daughter with Aspergers Syndrome participates in at least once a week for a minimum of 1 hours. This program must incorporate:

physical activity
decoding language and facial expressions
problem solving case-specific scenarios
developing friendship skills
group/team work

Ideally the Social Skills program should include Aspergers Syndrome childrens non-disabled peers. With consistency and perseverance this skills-specific program will effect positive change in your childs social behaviour.

The physical activity component will assist the Asperger Syndrome childs co-ordination, fine and gross motor skills, spatial awareness, vestibular systems imbalance and physical fitness levels.

The language component should aim to assist the Asperger Syndrome child to recognise and decode literal or conflicting statements in our language e.g. idioms and oxymorons. It also assists your son/daughter in identifying the meanings of facial expressions and body language/gestures. This will help your child with Aspergers Syndrome to develop the use of more appropriate facial expressions and body language in their interactions with their peers.

Problem solving specific scenarios that have occurred in the lives of children with Aspergers Syndrome helps them to develop a bank of appropriate responses/reactions and strategies to use in real life situations. E.g. Your teacher tells you to hand in your project books after lunch so she can mark them, and youve left yours at home. What would you do? It helps to hear everyones answer, as this provides a non-judgemental forum for the Asperger Syndrome child; helping them to recognise their first response in stressful situations. Hearing that other children with Aspergers Syndrome may react the same way helps your son/daughter feel less like one of a kind. Then, asking What might be a better way to handle the situation? develops a number of problem-solving options for your child to implement.

Discussions about what makes a good friend; what good friends do in various situations; how friends act; what friends say to each other; how friends share; how friends play together; how friends include each other in games etc, form the basis of teaching friendship skills. Again, using real-life scenarios of incidents that happen in the playground at school/home help Asperger Syndrome children to transfer their knowledge to their interactions with their peers. Specific skills need to be directly taught about appropriate ways to join a game; co-operating with others; turn taking and also subtle nuances like bending the rules of a game. Self recognition by the Asperger Syndrome child of their need for rigidness and rule following, and highlighting that not all children think this way helps to explain the often-confusing nature of the playground to your son/daughter. They may never be fully comfortable with games like this, but the knowledge gives them control over their choices.

Developing group work skills enables Asperger Syndrome children to participate more successfully in activities in class and at home. The mechanics of group work need to be explained to AS children in a step-by-step process for greatest understanding.

Regular access to an all-encompassing Social Skills program such as this, in a group comprising Asperger Syndrome children and their neurotypical peers provides your child with the building blocks of social dexterity for life. It also fosters tolerance and understanding in their neurotypical peers.

Your Asperger Syndrome childs school should recognise the need for continuous, open communication between home and school. This can be achieved by a daily phone call between Special Education staff and parents/carers each day, with relevant information being relayed to your childs Classroom teacher. Most parents/carers and professionals of Asperger Syndrome children understand that sometimes seemingly benign incidents in an AS childs day (either before, during or after school) can have a huge impact on their behaviour. Knowing that all behaviour is a form of communication, we cant possibly hope to understand the message the Asperger Syndrome child is trying to convey unless we have all the facts. Continual communication gives those caring for the Asperger child at school and home the big picture.

Schools should provide support for children with Aspergers Syndrome as required, and deliver that support in an equitable manner. Remember though, your AS child may need that support provided in an alternative format e.g. instead of in-class teacher aide support, your child may function better with organisational support e.g. keeping track of when work is due in; helping them collect/collate research information etc. Its imperative that you negotiate with the Asperger Syndrome child themselves to establish the most successful way to provide support.

Your childs school should have a safe space your Asperger child can go to when they are stressed, anxious, angry or agitated. This space needs to be sensorily quiet with soft furnishings a muted, calm environment. Accessing this safe space should never be used as a form of punishment; rather the AS child should be encouraged to remove him/her self from an escalating situation before overload and meltdown occur, and rewarded for using this strategy. The AS child shouldnt be rushed or hurried to return to the classroom or activity this will only increase their agitation. Patience is the key in the safe space strategy being successful. All children (Asperger Syndrome children included) strive to be the same as their peers, and this internal driving force ensures the AS child will rejoin his/her class as soon as they are physically/emotionally able to.

Just as neurotypical children differ from each other, so too no Asperger Syndrome children are exactly alike. Most of them however, experience periods of high/excess energy and will benefit from regular energy burns throughout the day. This could be in the form of a brisk walk; a short run/jog or a set of star jumps or other callisthenic exercise (skipping, hopping on alternate feet etc). The need to burn excess energy usually occurs about halfway through each classroom session (morning, middle and afternoon) and also just after each break-time (morning tea and lunch/recess). Your Asperger Syndrome childs successful behaviour in the classroom can be greatly enhanced by implementing regular energy burns into their day. If a Teacher Aide/Assistant isnt available to supervise this, an alternative is having the AS child run errands/messages for the Classroom teacher. However, its vital the child with Aspergers Syndrome comes to recognise these periods of high/excess energy, and experiences the benefits of implementing regular energy burns into his/her day.

This list of school strategies is by no means comprehensive, nor is it intended to be. Rather, its meant to list the minimum accommodations every school should make for children with Aspergers Syndrome. It is a foundation to build on in partnering with your childs school to create an individual Education program for your AS child that allows him/her to achieve their fullest potential.

How To Avoid Clichs - That Sounds Familiar

When writing articles, stories for full blown manuscripts it is often in your best interest to avoid common phrases or colloquialisms. Many writers refer to the overuse of these phrases as clich and they avoid them like the plague.

It may take some work to find new ways to say something youve relied on clichs to say for you.

Two exercises I have used for this is to pick a vocabulary list and only use words on that list to compose a thought. Its amazing how creative you can get when forced into a narrowly defined list of words. The second exercise is to simply remove a letter from the alphabet and provide ground rules that say the letter g (or any other letter you choose) can not be used in the thought you are working through. If a word you want to use has g in it you will need to find an alternative word.

The primary use for colloquialisms is in fiction writing where period dialect dictates that an overused phrase that was commonly used during the time period of the story should be used. In these cases common phrases of the era may simply help identify the setting and the mannerisms of the character.

In Christian writing common colloquialisms are often referred to as Christianese. These phrases have meaning for those who know Christ, but often sound like some sort or code to those who are not Christians. It is in the best interest of Christian writers to find alternative ways to convey truths that have been reduced to Christianese.

However you look at colloquialisms it is safe to say that these common phrases have their roots in something most often forgotten. For instance the term, the whole nine yards is a term that is often used to describe an all encompassing amount. The original phrase came about during Word War II to describe the effect of machine guns mounted on air craft. If all the ammunition was used in one run it covered 27 feet or the whole nine yards. While the original meaning is no longer connected with the term, its original intent was maximum coverage and thats what the colloquialism represents today.

The primary word of caution is to minimize the use of common terms, phrases or slang whenever possible. If the slang is present day it will likely be pass before your piece can be published and will sound dated. If the slang is from the past, but is overdone it may sound like a visit to Clich Town according to fellow author David Ian.

When you proof your manuscript look for phrases that seem familiar, chances are very strong that the line has been overused and will minimize the impact you desire for your piece. If possible find a new way to convey an old truth. You, your publisher and your reader will be glad you did.

Gastric Reflux and How To Stop It

The number of people that suffer from Gastric Reflux is in the millions. What people may not know about Gastric Reflux is that there are various of ways to deal with the problem effectively.

As many people suffer from Gastric Reflux, the cases can range from mild to severe. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Gastric Reflux or are suffering from it, this article will explain what steps you can take to cure or reduce the problem.

Defining Gastric Reflux

Gastric Reflux disease (GERD) is defined as the back flow of stomach acid into the esophagus (the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach). The flow of food from the stomach into the esophagus causes a burning discomfort within the individual. The person can also experience a bitter aftertaste in their mouth and difficulty swallowing. Gastric Reflux disease is often times referred to as heartburn.

Facts

The fact is that many people experience Gastric Reflux at one time or another in their lives. The reason is because a great many people indulge in things that are not good for their health like smoking, greasy and fatty foods. Fatty foods in particular can cause a bout with Gastric Reflux. Why? Fatty foods can remain within a person's stomach for a long time after it has been eaten.

As stated earlier, a person can have an occasional bout with Gastric Reflux or it can become chronic. If a person suffers from chronic Gastric Reflux, other health problems can result ,such as a severe case of inflammation, ulcers, anemia or a low blood count.

Prescribed solutions

There are ways that a person can control Gastric Reflux, if it becomes a chronic problem.

First, if you are suffering from Gastric Reflux and you smoke, stop immediately.Although there is some debate on how much smoking effects gastric reflux, there is enough research to establish that it does have some negative effects. What has been established is that smoking can cause a delayed gastric emptying, which can lead to Gastric Reflux.

Second, if a person is overweight and suffers from chronic Gastric Reflux they should consider losing the excess weight. There is a theory that suggests that when you are overweight and suffering from Gastric Reflux, the weight compresses the stomach and raises the pressure inside.

Third, if a person is suffering from chronic Gastric Reflux they should limit or get rid of alcohol all together. If they continue to drink, then a person should limit himself or herself to one glass of alcohol a day.

Fourth,do not eat two or three hours before going to bed.

Fifth, people who suffer from Gastric Reflux should limited their caffeine. This includes coffee, chocolate and soda.

Sixth, if the Gastric Reflux is severe enough, go see a doctor and they can prescribe medicines to treat the problem. Medications that could be prescribed to you are H2blockers, which lessen gastric acid secretions. There are also Proton-pump inhibitors, which prevent gastric acid secretions as well by stopping the enzyme pump process.

Conclusion

Everyone suffers from Gastric Reflux at one time or another in their lives. When Gastric Reflux becomes chronic, one should see a doctor, and take a close look at their dietary habits. The causes of Gastric Reflux are usually dietary, and can be changed, which is good news. If Gastric Reflux cannot be changed through diet, a doctor can prescribe medication to get it under control.

So, don't wait, take action. What one does not want is to wait for the problem to get worse. Make the necessary changes, and by doing so, you can make the quality of your life so much better.
